John
Sommerville

John is Managing Partner of Creative Places. He has an expert understanding of how property development and investments are financed and is particularly adept at appraising property potential and advising on strategic options, investment opportunities and development viability.

John’s exacting experience and expertise in property valuation and viability analysis has enabled clients to successfully understand viability, assess financial return, secure funding and agree transactions.

John also works with clients to help secure occupiers for R&D property and negotiate appropriate terms.  Through his experience he has an intrinsic understanding of what occupiers are looking for, how they can be sourced and how best to structure lease arrangements that work for both the landlord and tenant.  He also has good experience and understanding of successful design for R&D buildings, particularly those providing small suites of office and laboratory space. His direct knowledge of lease structures for such accommodation, how services are provided and charged for and the costs of running such facilities enables clients to make informed decisions about their property assets.

John has lectured on valuation to Cambridge University students and is an active member of the UK Science Park Association (UKSPA).

John qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1995.
